Il movimento centrale è il componente della bicicletta che consente al perno che collega tra loro le due pedivelle di ruotare liberamente. Il suo nome evoca tanto il fatto che si trovi geometricamente in posizione centrale (nel piano del telaio ma anche longitudinalmente, tra le due ruote), quanto la centralità della sua funzione: se spingendo sui pedali la bicicletta avanza, lo si deve in buona parte ad esso.

Similmente i movimenti sono quei componenti delle società in cui si concentrano le potenzialità individuali, trasformandosi assieme in forze collettive che sono il motore del progresso.

The bottom bracket (central movement in Italian) is the bicycle component that allows the spindle connecting the two crank arms to freely rotate. Its Italian name hints both to the fact that it is geometrically situated in a central position (on the plane of the frame but also longitudinally, between the two wheels) and to the centrality of its function: pushing on the pedals yields a forward movement of the bicycle in good part thanks to the bottom bracket.

Similarly movements constitute the components of societies in which individual potential is condensed together and transformed in collective forces that move progress forward.
